“Mobler” is the Swedish word for furniture – and one company has perfected this – IKEA. Chances are, if you’re in the market for some new furniture, you’ve heard of IKEA.
What’s interesting, and unique, about IKEA is that the online shopping experience differs significantly from the in-person one – but not in a bad way! Both offer variety and resources in a fun, easy way.
Online, IKEA’s proucts are categorized by room, on large tabs at the top of the site. Within these tabs, of course, the furniture selection becomes more specific. IKEA has incredible variety – for example, the living room selection includes rattan seating, cabinetry, shelving units, TV consoles, and sofa options. The kitchen section includes not only kitchen furniture, but also dishes, food storage, coffee and tea accessories, and washing and cleaning supplies. (The kitchen furniture includes countertops, islands, ‘built-in’ kitchens, and appliances). It’s easy to see the extent to which IKEA can cover your furnishing needs.
IKEA also has a variety of textiles available, including rugs, curtains and blinds, bed linens, and pillows.
Through the website, you can browse these endless options, create a free IKEA account, and locate a store near you. Joining the mailing list will provide you with deals and new product information. And if you need a helping…head, there’s Anna. Anna is a virtual IKEA employer who can answer your specific questions when you type them in, or direct you where you need to go. There’s also design and style tips.
If you can’t decide online and need to shop IKEA in person – you’ll have fun! Each store features a kids’ play area and an IKEA restaurant.
One of the few downsides to shopping IKEA is the slightly expensive price. Otherwise, the ubiquitous features make this site (and store) a great choice for modern, stylish, fun furniture.
